iHealth: How to Ensure the Health Benefit Exchange Reaches all Californians

The signing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) in March 2010 provides states with the opportunity to bring health insurance to millions who have been ineligible for or unable to afford it in the past.1 In California alone, an estimated 4.7 million uninsured and underinsured residents, many from communities of color, are expected to gain access to health insurance through the ACA’s provisions.2 One of the most important of these is the creation of the Health Benefit Exchange (Exchange).
