US Department of Justice Moves to Block AT&T/T-Mobile Merger

Yesterday The United States Department of Justice moved to block the AT&T-T-Mobile merger. The US DOJ stated that “Unless this merger is blocked, competition and innovation will be reduced, and consumers will suffer.” To read the full statement CLICK HERE

Greenlining would like to introduce you to Betty Bastidas, an Ecuadorian American filmmaker based in Brooklyn NY. Last week Greenlining hosted a screening of her film, DreamTown, a project that Betty has been working on for over 4 years. We were instantly compelled to help spread the word. Betty has already raised $8,412 but won’t see a penny of that if she doesn’t reach her goal of $40,000 in 13 days! The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) needs to hear from you at a public hearing on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton Culver City – Marina B, located at 5990 Green Valley Circle in Culver City. CPUC Hosts Public Hearing on Proposed AT&T/T-Mobile Merger July 7th

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) needs to hear from you at a public hearing on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the CPUC Auditorium located at 505 Van Ness Ave in San Francisco. At the public hearing, you can tell the CPUC that you cannot support the merger unless important questions are answered. As you have undoubtedly heard, AT&T has announced a deal to acquire T-Mobile for $39 billion. Affordable Health Insurance Urgently Needs Your Voice

Health insurance premiums for families rose 131%, while the general rate of inflation increased just 28% during the same period, according to a report by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

AB 52 (Feuer) passed the Assembly Thursday in a 45 to 28 vote! While this is a huge victory we still have a tough battle ahead as the bill now moves to the Senate!

As you have undoubtedly heard, AT&T announced a deal last month to acquire T-Mobile for $39 billion. The new entity would have 130 million wireless subscribers, making it the largest wireless carrier in the country.  If approved, the deal will have major implications for California’s consumers and communities.
