Our Democracy
A key part of making the American Dream a reality for all communities is effective government – one where its citizens are engaged in our democracy and its representatives are accountable to the people. To achieve effective government, Greenlining’s Claiming Our Democracy Initiative engages in policy research, advocacy, and civic engagement campaigns that educate, empower, and mobilize communities to hold their leaders accountable and create open, transparent government. Previous efforts led by this program include topics such as national campaign finance reform, redistricting reform, California’s ballot initiative system, and voting rights and registration.
