Carbon Pricing and Equity Discussion

"Global Warming and Economic Crisis: How to Create Opportunities for California's Low-Income and Communities of Color?"

The New Economy can not leave its most vulnerable communities behind.  Now is the time to ensure a seat at the table.

We invite you to participate in the effort to ensure that low-income and disproportionately impacted communities are included in the discussion around climate change; that the current and future economic/ environmental policies generate opportunities for our neighborhoods and not perpetuate the inequity from decades of fossil fuel dependence.

This discussion is happening across the state.  Policies like AB32, Global Warming Solutions Act require that California reduce its carbon emissions by 30%.  This undertaking is complex and will impact many.  It will also help our efforts to mitigate the devastating impacts of global warming.

The Green Assets team has hosted many discussions across the state. Most recently we hosted a discussion in Los Angeles and in Fresno on carbon pricing mechanisms, liabilities and costs to our communities, and possible solutions.  Please review the powerpoint presentations listed below for your benefit.

We will be hosting many discussions moving forward, so please return to our Greenlining website to learn more.

Thanks,

Tara Marchant
